Full Moon Night Sailing Weekend

Night sailing past the Needles with a full moon behind them. Magic!
Date: Thu 15th August 17h00 to Sunday 18th at 17h00
Boat: First 40.7 3 cabin racing cruiser. Symmetrical Spinnaker. Radar and AIS perfect for night navigation.
Cost: £550 per person
Location: Hamble in Solent
Experience: None required but you need to be willing to participate in the night watches and have a sense of adventure. A perfect chance to practice watch systems, navigation including radar and AIS, and spinnaker technique. If you don't have much night sailing experinec you'll be paired with experienced watch leaders. And if you want to skipper a passage and practice your night navigation let me know.
Route:
Friday night: overnight 60 miles to Weymouth. Awesome night sailing route; tricky navigation buoys in Solent, tidal gates, passing the needles at midnight, overfalls and strong currents
Arrive Weymouth marina Friday mid morning
Friday during day to rest and explore the pretty fishing village of Weymouth.
Friday 18h00 depart to Poole. 30 miles. Arrive Poole and anchor at midnight
Saturday to rest and explore Poole.
Saturday 18h00 depart to sail into English Channel and around the Isle of Wight. 65 miles.
Arrive Cowes Sunday morning. Rest and explore. 2 hour sail in the afternoon back to Hamble.
The route is based on making use of the tides as much as possible. Do I need to say it’s weather dependent? If the weather is very bad we would stay in the Solent and explore the sheltered waters around there.
Route and timing are guesstimates.
Highlight: it’s a full moon weekend. If it’s good weather the night sailing will be magical.
No professional crew on board, this is a sailing with friends event on a cost sharing basis.
Register here to express interest and find out more, it doesn't guarantee a spot since we need to balance the experience of crew.
